I am getting chills just thinking about this. In October, creepy crawlers and other cool creatures will invade Pretend City Children’s Museum. What better way to celebrate the spooky month of October than to have your children explore and look for the creatures at the craggy cave, grassy meadow, and frightful farm shed at Pretend City. A special activity for each day of the week throughout the month include: daily bug-themed activities, meeting special “guests”, and creating creatures in the Art Studio. Which one will you want to see? Photo Credits: Pretend City Children’s Museum Mondays: Art Studio Sessions Baby Bugs “Squishy, Slimy, Creepy Crawly art projects are in store … READ MORE
My Gym Children’s Fitness Center in Yorba Linda. It’s one of my favorite places for play dates. I used to go to the one in Huntington Beach, and my kids love it! My son with autism was one of the kids that ran around like a kid in a candy store. He wanted to try everything from climbing, tumbling, jumping in ball pits, bouncing on trampolines, sliding down slides, walking on balance beams to rolling around a huge wheel (there are balls too). He received lots of exercise for the day and if you know my son, he has sensory issues and it’s usually a struggle to get him to … READ MORE
It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Mimi’s Cafe® along with National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) teamed up to raise awareness and funds in their efforts to save lives through early detection and by providing mammograms. Two “Sparkling Pink” Drink Selections The other day some of my girlfriends got together for brunch to check out their new “pink” beverages as each “pink” drink will benefit the NBCF. We all chose the “Sparkling Pink Passion Mimosa.” (A non-alcoholic “pink” beverage is also available.) I love this time of year because they bring back “pumpkin” everything – latte, muffins, cheesecake, and of course pancakes. We shared a Chocolate Mousse Muffin – Yummmy Mimi’s … READ MORE
We stumbled upon Porsche Timeline Show a few years ago. We wanted to get out of the city so we took a day trip to the mountains. I think we were looking for Big Bear and came across this little town called Lake Arrowhead (about 30 minutes from each other). It was foggy that day but we saw that we had just missed an annual Porsche car show. Ever since then, I google it every year to try to make it every year. My boys love it! We’ve gone several times and as the boys get older, it’s a little different every time. The “Windy” Road Trip to Lake Arrowhead … READ MORE

My family and I were thrilled when we won tickets to a Disney Pixar Cars event. My kids love, Love, LOVE Disney•Pixar Cars. We’re also annual passport holders to Disneyland so we’ve been to the new Cars Land (opened since June 2012 at Disney California Adventure) several times. Just imagine everything you remember on Route 66 in Radiator Springs from the movie: the desert scene, canyons, Flo’s V8 Cafe, Cozy Cone Motel, Luigi’s Casa Della Tire shop, and more blown up to a life-sized version. You must see with your own eyes to believe. What’s more is there is a life-sized McQueen and Mater that cruises Route 66 for photo … READ MORE
I was with my girlfriend Jenn the other day at Disney California Adventure trying to get one last meet-up in before school starts, and we were saying how nice it would be to go back and ride all the “adult” rides without the kids. If you know me, you know that a big light bulb went off in my head to plan it. Moms need breaks too so we asked our other girlfriend, Kirstin (who also has an annual passport) to take a morning off for ourselves and have some fun.
I was invited to a pre-screening this week for the new upcoming movie of Won’t Back Down and was asked to write a review. This movie was inspired by actual events and the works of dedicated parents, teachers and advocates across the country. It is about two moms (one was a teacher) who had nothing in common other than they did not want their children to get lost in the system. MAGGIE GYLLENHAAL (Oscar® nominated actress), as Jamie Fitzpatrick, is a single mom working two jobs and has a child with dyslexia. Her daughter, Malia, was taken out of a good supportive school, because they had to move for more … READ MORE
