EASY RECIPE: Daddy and Me Chocolate Chip Cookies

This is a sponsored post written by Leyna Doan for Smart & Final. Father’s Day is all about Dads and this Father’s Day I want to celebrate Dads by getting my husband in the kitchen with our daughter. You see, I remember cooking with my Dad when I was little. My Dad didn’t cook very often but when he did, he always had so much pride in it. His fish dish is still one of my favorite dishes, and I still cherish our memory together. Thankfully, he is still with us today, but miles away, and it got me thinking. My husband doesn’t cook much either, but our two-year old … READ MORE

Make It An Orange County Date Night Sweepstakes! #visitanaheim

This is a post written by me for VisitAnaheim.org. Summer Break is here! I am looking forward to no early alarm clocks, not packing school lunches, no pick up alarms, and no waiting in pick up lines. Aren’t you? We plan to have plenty of fun together this summer, and I cannot wait, but at some point, I’d like to have a Date Night too with just my hubby. Lucky for us there is plenty to see and do in Orange County. Imagine checking in at a local hotel for the night (The Best Western Plus Stovall’s Inn in Anaheim for example). Getting hungry? We both dress up for an … READ MORE

Dining Guide at Great Wolf Lodge Southern California

If you’re wondering what kind of dining options are available at Great Wolf Lodge (GWL) Southern California, I’ve got the 411! Years ago, Great Wolf Lodge didn’t know much about food so they used to serve frozen burgers and fried food, but you’ll be happy to know they have come a long way from that, because GWL understands that about 25% of their hotel guests have food allergies, and it is important to them to use quality fresh locally-grown organic produce. For example, we tasted a few items during a special media preview presentation like a garden salad, mushroom risotto, and a gazpacho (cold vegetable soup). The dishes were so fresh … READ MORE

New Nekter Juice Bar Opens at South Coast Plaza

On March 18th, Nekter Juice Bar at South Coast Plaza officially opened and we were there for a sneak preview! The store vibe was inviting and decorated with inspirational messages to promote living well. Some fresh juices we sampled were The Buzz, The Greenie, and Toxin Flush as well as Pitaya Superfood and Acai Banana Berry from the Bowl Bar. From the Bowl Bar, we had a choice between the Pitaya Superfood and Acai Banana Berry base. Toppings available were hempseed granola, blueberries, strawberries, gluten-free granola, bananas, raw coconut flakes, chia seeds, and agave nectar. What a delicious brunch! Nekter Juice Bar‘s new South Coast Plaza location is located on … READ MORE

Daily Grill’s Simply 600 Menu

If you are on a low calorie diet, Daily Grill in Southern California have Simply 600 dishes for both lunch and dinner. Their items are less than 600 calories, all natural, locally inspired, and made from scratch daily. We went in for a tasting and tried their Blackened Ahi Tuna Salad. It was lightly dressed served with seared ahi tuna, very tasty, and a great healthy lunch option.  The other items I tried were their Chicken Marsala and their Grilled Trout. All three items were very filling for lunch and lightly seasoned. They’re also available on the dinner menu too. Eating healthy doesn’t mean you have to settle for less quality or taste. … READ MORE

Yalla Medi Seal Beach Menu Review

If you love Mediterranean food without the long wait, Yalla Medi in Seal Beach has build-your-own pita wraps, skewers, salads, and a selection of fresh Mediterranean side dishes and sauces. Here’s a Yalla Plate that I sampled with two different proteins: house-made Falafel and Steak Skewers. It comes with Basmati rice, mixed greens, and three sides. Salads If you prefer a healthy salad, you can select from Power Greens with kale, balsamic apricots, toasted almonds, feta cheese, and lemon vinaigrette OR Fattoush with romaine, cabbage, radish, tomato, cucumber, garbanzo beans, olives, red onion, pita chips, and vinaigrette. I ordered my Power Greens with Salmon. How to Order: Here’s how to order … READ MORE

Leatherby’s Cafe Rouge Themed Menu featuring Phantom of the Opera

My husband and I attended media preview night for The Phantom of the Opera which is now performing at Segerstrom Center for the Arts until August 16th. We were in for a night full of beautiful singing. I was delighted the moment they lit up that chandelier. Chris Mann (The Phantom), Katie Travis (Christine), Storm Lineberger (Raoul), and Jacquelynne Fontaine (Carlotta) delivers a powerful performance to a timeless classic. My favorite scene was when The Phantom takes Christine across the foggy lake as they sang their theme song, The Phantom of the Opera. I also loved their performance to All I Ask of You and Wishing You Were Somehow Here … READ MORE

How to Order at Chronic Tacos

Last night, the family and I stopped at CHRONIC TACOS at Bella Terra in Huntington Beach for dinner. The best way I know how to explain Chronic Tacos is… it’s like a Subways but for Tacos. The menu is pretty simple, but can be a little intimidating if it’s your first time and especially if there’s a line behind you. There are a few things you must know when you’re in line: Do you want a taco, burrito, salad, nachos, torta (sandwich), or quesadilla? Then you must decide what kind of protein – carne asada (marinated steak), pollo (chicken), carnitas (pork), fish, shrimp, or vegetarian? Moving down the line, they … READ MORE
