Family Movie Night: Night at the Museum Marathon | #Night3MovieNight #NATM3Insiders

Spread the love

We love weekly Family Movie Nights. As a Fox Home Ent Insider, we’re celebrating the movie release of Night at the Museum 3 on Blu-ray and DVD with a Night at the Museum marathon! We were in a day of historical fun as Larry (Ben Stiller) along with Teddy Roosevelt (Robbin Williams) and Jedediah (Owen Wilson) takes us through living museum exhibits that comes to life every night. It was perfect because it was also Pi Day and Einstein’s Birthday (the second movie featured both of them.)

Night at the Museum Family Movie Night

In the first movie, Larry is the new Night Watchman at The Museum of Natural History. He quickly learns the magic of the ancient Tablet that turns the exhibits to life. How does he keep the exhibits from destroying the museum, and more importantly, how does he keep them all in the museum so they don’t turn to dust? Every morning before the public arrives, he has to restore order to the museum. His buddy Teddy Roosevelt gave him great advice: “The more you know about the past, the better prepared you are for the future.” That is exactly what he does. He went home and started to study their history so he can understand and communicate with them better.

In the second movie, they end up at the Smithsonian Institution as they team up with old and new friends like Amelia Earhart (Amy Adams) to battle it out with history’s greatest villains who need to crack the code to the Tablet. Hint: There’s a clever mention of Einstein and Pi. NOTE: This was a bonus digital download from the third movie’s Blu-ray!

In the third movie, they end up in London’s British Museum to save the Tablet from deterioration. It features a Triceratops that lived 66 million years ago and was one of the last dinosaur; Garuda, the bird-like creature of Buddhism, is a symbol of freedom from hopes and fears; and Pompeii was a resort town in the Roman Empire, buried by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, then later was rediscovered in 1748 and had been miraculously frozen in time. Also, Mindy (Rebel Wilson) falls in love with a Neanderthal (Ben Stiller). HILARIOUS!

BONUS: Every Blu-ray comes with a bonus Digital HD movie! Select from either Night at the Museum or Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian.

We had a great time, and the movies are fun to watch. The movie reminds us that there are an endless amount of rich history to explore and should not be forgotten.

Movie Refreshments
Our day started with fun international snacks, courtesy of Fox Home Ent Insiders.

  • Turkish Delights (or lokum) were introduced to Western Europe in the 19th Century. They have a chewy gel filling and a chocolate coating.
  • Cadbury was established in Birmingham, England in 1824 by John Cadbury. By 1914, chocolate were their best sellers!
  • New York Bagels were introduced by Polish Jews immigrants in the early 20th Century. In 1907, the International Bagel Bakers Union was established and monopolized the bagel production in NYC.

Activity Sheets

Themed activity sheets were supplementary to the whole experience. We played games in between movies. Here are some you can download too!

Pizza Day!

Of course, we had to have Pizza for Pi Day! Pizza Hut offers a “Big Dinner Box’ which came with two types of pizzas, bread sticks, and chicken wings for about $20. It was enough food to last us all day and some!
