Thank you Curves® International for sponsoring this post.
Have you heard of Curves® Fitness Program for women? Some of my friends and I signed up for a month-long membership at Curves in Laguna Niguel to kick off our fitness journey – “No Make, No Men, and No Mirrors” (their unofficial motto). I have never been inside their facility before, and did not know what to expect, but I am trying to make a lifestyle change by making fitness a priority so that is why I have decided to try them out. They offer 30-minute total body workouts on strength training machines. What I have seen so far, I have been extremely impressed. In thirty minutes, my friend and I are able to complete two rounds of circuit designed to burn fat, increase heart rate, and build strength. We are working every core muscle group and only spend 30 seconds at each station. As I look around the room, everyone is moving at different levels, but I can tell the members have been coming here for years. I don’t feel intimated or judged, and we’re all here for the same reason – To get healthy.
Working out with a friend has motivated me to keep coming back, and we are holding each other accountable. I feel like staying active is not enough anymore, because I always feel tired. I want to have more energy for my family, and this is making me stronger. We both love it! The first week flew by, and although it was hard to come back after a long weekend, I didn’t want to let my friend down and I did it for my health too. It turned out to be a great session. Right now we are going at least three times a week after we drop the children at school, and we are going to try coming on the weekends if our schedules allow. They say thirty minutes but the whole workout is actually an hour because we do warm ups, cool down after circuit, and stretch for 15 minutes. For new members, we get five coaching sessions (1:1) to learn the machines before they release us to do it on our own. My trainer, Tracy (also the owner), pushes me hard, but she is extremely encouraging. All the members have been really friendly and supportive too. I love the supportive community that Laguna Niguel location already has. I can’t wait to share my results in a month!
