Waterfront Dining at Blue Water Grill Avalon

Spread the love

Imagine waterfront dining on your birthday overlooking beautiful Avalon Bay with a spectacular view of Catalina Casino all the while enjoying a delicious seafood dinner – that is what dining at Blue Water Grill Avalon was like. It’s one of our favorite spots to dine on Catalina Island. While we waited, we are taking it all in. Is this a dream? The kids are searching for fish in the water, because we are literally on the water. It really doesn’t get any better than this.

Calamari Fritti for starters served with a sweet chili dipping sauce and cajun remoulade. They are great to share! Followed by our entrees. Our favorite item on the menu is their Lemon Pepper Mahi Mahi which comes with scalloped potatoes, spinach and a chili cilantro hollandaise. The children had options like grilled dipping sticks (you pick the protein), burger patty without the bun, cheeseburger slider, pasta with tomato sauce or butter & romano, or grilled cheese sandwich. It comes with one side (garden salad, fresh veggies, edamame, rice, scalloped potato or french fries) and a beverage (apple, cranberry, orange, pineapple, or milk).

When it got cold, our server offered us blankets and an open seat by the heating lamps. As dessert arrived, we sang Happy Birthday. He didn’t tell me what he had wished for, but as he shared his Caramel Turtle Cheesecake with our boys, he told me that this was the best birthday surprise ever!

Cheers to a beautiful birthday!

Bluewater Avalon features their freshly caught seafood and shellfish daily on a chalkboard. There are indoor seating as well as outdoor seating. The views are spectacular! The locally caught fresh seafood comes from local seafood restaurant owner/operators Jim Ulcickas and Rick Staunton who have been fishing the waters off Avalon for years supplying fresh seafood for Catalina Island restaurants as well as Bluewater Grill locations in Southern California and Phoenix. More than 90% of Bluewater’s seafood are sustainably caught or farmed and verified by either Aquarium of the Pacific‘s Seafood for the Future program, Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch program, or sourced from approved fisheries of the World Wildlife Fund’s Marine Stewardship Council.
