“It’s possible!” I love the message of Rodger & Hammerstein’s Cinderella– that no matter how impossible something may seem, if you believe and try, impossible things can become possible! I was delighted to take my daughter to see the 2013 Tony Award-winning Broadway musical at Segerstrom Center for the Arts. It was another chance to share my love of musical theater with her and who doesn’t love to dress up and have a special mother-and-daughter night out?
PRE-SHOW ACTIVITIES
We arrived an hour before show time so that we could take part in the free pre-show lobby activities. First, we found the photo opportunity display on the Orchestra Terrace Level and Isabella loved holding the glass slipper while showing off her Cinderella-inspired outfit. Isabella stood in line while I grabbed her a treat from the complimentary dessert table to enjoy while she waited for her turn to get her picture taken at the ball. Then, it was off to make a wand in the craft area. The girls could color and decorate a paper star and then cut it out and glue it to a “wand” – i.e. a giant Pixie Stick. It was such a cute craft and popular with all the little girls that were there to enjoy Cinderella. Isabella especially loved that they had sparkly jewels to embellish the wands with.
ANIKA’S PINK CLOSET – directly across from the art display – where you can drop off your gently used clothing. These donations will be distributed to foster homes and child abuse prevention centers throughout Orange County. Please bring your items in a clear plastic bag. All items are accepted, but there is a particular need for girls and children’s clothing.
