Visiting Palm Springs in the summer was hot but fun. We haven’t been to Palm Springs in a while but I remember it being hot and spending a lot of time by the pool. Nighttime swim is fun too. After a month of rushing around for the end of school year, I welcomed a few days lounging poolside. We stayed at Miramonte Resort in Indian Wells. It is conveniently located near shops and restaurants and in the heart of California’s Coachella Valley. It was not walking distance but everything was about a 5 to 10 minute drive.
Poolside Service
Cabanas are the way to go when you are spending a day at the pool. It includes a fridge with beverages like water and soda. You are guaranteed shade, a ceiling fan, misters, towels, two reserved lounge chairs, and a server. I think if you are going with a group, you can easily split one. I don’t recall the capacity for each cabana but it can fit at least 10 people. We were not all in there at the same time, but we did gather when we had lunch. It made us all feel extra special. We ordered a pitcher of margaritas and a pitcher of iced tea to share. In the summer, kids eat free at the resort. The kids were able to order things like hot dogs, grilled cheese sandwiches, and chicken strips. Adults can order things like soups, salads, seasonal fruit, street tacos, pepperoni flatbread, burgers, and sandwiches among other things. We were also able to enjoy ice cream sandwiches poolside. It came with three flavors – chocolate, mint, and strawberry ice cream. We were out there late the first night, and I think it was open until 10 pm. If you need more quiet time at the pool, there is a smaller adult pool with a jacuzzi toward the backside of the property.
HINT: Giant floaties are available for rent or purchase.
Renovations
The resort recently completed an $8 million renovation with the direction of Los Angeles-based design studio, Indidesign. They wanted to keep it classic yet elegant providing a relaxing environment in which Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley is known for. Over several phases, the renovation project started with the guest rooms, suites, and outdoor social spaces but they’re now done with the lobby, bar, restaurant, meeting spaces, and award-winning Well Spa. The 20,000+ square feet of indoor event space available on-property has been given an updated look that blends traditional Palm Springs modernism with steel, wood, and warm colored accents. The award-winning Well Spa refreshed its interior and added new chaise-style chairs, modern lighting and lush greenery to the outdoor areas.
Farm-to-Table Dining
Executive Chef Paul Hancock revamped the seasonal menu to incorporate more local ingredients sourced directly from Coachella Valley farmers that promote wellness from plate to palate. The Citrus & Palm name refers to the abundance of native citrus trees and date palms that grow in the area. We met with Chef for breakfast one morning for a tour around the property. Many of the plants are there for a purpose, and some of it is their herb garden. We didn’t even realize there were large olive trees around us until he pointed them out. You can watch the tour below. If you are looking for ideas what to order, you can check out the dishes we had. (Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, Avocado Toast, Omelet, Olive Oil and Honey Granola with sun-dried berries, and Smoked Salmon with citrus cream cheese).
