SPECIAL EFFECTS
I’ve been told the musical has special effects never before seen on-stage including 2 LED screens (25 feet wide x 11 feet high) weighing about 6,000 pounds each screen.
Sam, as a ghost, walks through a solid door. Inanimate objects take on a life of their own. Spirits ascend to the heavens, subway passengers are thrown in the air during a high speed train ride and people disappear and reappear right before your eyes.
You might like that in the pottery scene Molly (Katie Postotnik and the two Molly understudies) were taught to throw pots by professional potters so that they can realistically reenact the iconic pottery scene. They use about two pounds of clay used per show. Writer Bruce Joel Rubin’s wife (a real life potter) was the inspiration for Molly in Ghost.
Here’s a fun fact about wardrobe: there are 46 wigs, 300+ costumes, and 75 quick changes. AMAZING!
