The Albright is the longest running restaurant on the Santa Monica Pier, celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, which also happens to be the birthplace of the beloved American icon, Popeye the sailor-man. Popeye was created in 1929 by cartoonist Elzie C. Segar and was inspired by a retired Navy sailor named Olaf Olsen who worked on the Pier.

Note: I don’t remember how much parking was, because it was full when we visited but we parked at one of the nearby lots and walked over. It’s not one of those where it is easy to get in and out so you might want to take your time and walk around. It is also at the end of Route 66.
