Dana Point Harbor’s Annual Festival of Whales Celebration + Giveaway!

Hosting their 46th ANNUAL FESTIVAL OF WHALES, the County of Orange, OC Parks, and Dana Point Harbor would like to invite families to join the migration ritual celebration from winter to spring with activities both on land and sea for two weekends this month – March 4 & 5, 11 & 12! A parade kicks off the celebration on March 4th at 10 am taking floats and giant helium balloons along Pacific Coast Highway starting at Selva Road and ends at Golden Lantern in Dana Point.

ACTIVITIES

Fun for the whole family, the celebration includes a sand sculpting competition, Wyland art lessons, whale watching excursions, sailing and stand up paddle boarding clinics, free movie screenings, art at the park, clam chowder cook off, drone and GoPro demonstrations, live music, food, and more! WHALE WATCHING EXCURSIONS

Whale watching excursions departs from the wharf every hour on the hour from 8 am to 4 pm during festival weekends and will showcase the abundance of marine life on Southern California’s coast. Prices and trip duration will vary.

WHALE OF A CONCERT FINALE

Wrapping up the festival, the Whale of a Concert and BBQ is held on the last day on March 12 from 12 pm to 5 pm. This free outdoor concert at Baby Beach will feature three bands performing atop a floating stage.

PARKING

Parking will be available in different parking lots throughout the festival and all lots are serviced by free shuttles. The free shuttles will be running from 10 am to 4 pm every day of the festival with extended service hours the morning of the parade on March 4 and the afternoon of the Whale of a Concert on March 12.
