DreamWorks Trolls-Inspired Hug Time Clocks Craft + Movie Giveaway!

Spread the love

DreamWorks TROLLS is coming to Blu-ray/DVD this week creating smiles the whole family can enjoy out of their homes! You have the world’s happiest creatures (the Trolls) up against the most miserable creatures on all the land (the Bergens). Trolls love nothing more than to sing, dance, hug then repeat. I love that their Princess Poppy loves to scrapbook! The Bergens are super grumpy and sad who believe the only way they can be happy is when they eat a Troll. Once a year, they gather around the Troll Tree so they can be happy for a day, because even they are tired of being sad all year. Trolls is a very colorful glittery musical film that had my family cracking up throughout the film on Family Movie Night. I also love the message – “Happiness is inside all of us. Sometimes you just need someone to help you find it.”

For Family Movie Night this weekend, we made Trolls-inspired Hug Time Clocks as our activity while watching the film, but it soon became our favorite passtime because we kept going back to add more details! As a Fox Home Entertainment Insider (FHEInsider), we received a large scrapbooking kit for movie night, but I also picked up some supplies of my own. These clocks were super easy to make and you really can’t go wrong with glitter glue (my new obsession!)

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • a pack of foam flowers (6″ x 6″),
  • a pack of foam craft sticks (0.75″ x 6.06″),
  • a pack of bright, round brads,
  • glitter glue sticks,
  • Trolls-themed stickers,
  • Trolls-themed scrapbook paper,
  • various shape-cutters,
  • a pack of plywood circles (6.5″ x 0.13″) – optional for added support.

TIP: They sell a Trolls Scrapbooking kit that includes paper, stickers, glitter glue, and themed paper.

I never knew glitter glue sticks can be so much fun! Thanks to my niece for showing me a few tricks or two. We outlined the flowers but also used it to accent some of our punched-out shapes. You really can’t go wrong when you are scrapbooking. The most important part is letting it dry completely before adding the clock arms. For the circular shapes, I used a lid as a guide to cut out circles. Tip: Draw on the back of the paper so you don’t have visible pen lines showing on the front-side of your cut-out.

How to Make the Clock Hands

  1. Fold the foam craft sticks so that one is longer than the other.

  2. Cut the craft sticks into two pieces.

  3. Line up two uneven pieces before using a brad to secure them together.

TIP: Make sure your clocks are completely dry before adding the hands. The brads I used were slightly long enough to reach the back of the flowers, holding the hands in place.

We had so much fun creating the clocks for movie night that we made several versions each. As you can see, there were no rules and the pieces were all uniquely different. The plywood circles is an optional item that I picked up for extra support of the foam flowers but you might not need them. They came in a pack of six. We love that Princess Poppy loves to scrapbook and reminded us how much fun it is to do together! Be sure to enter below for a chance to win a copy of the film in Blu-ray/DVD!
