Need something fun but inexpensive to keep the children busy this summer? I’m with you. When summer break rolls around, I get happy because I can turn off all the various alarms (wake up call, drop offs, pick ups, etc., etc.), and take it easy or go on vacation. In the summer we like to relax and have fun. Thankfully, we have jobs that allow us to do that. We’re still busy but it’s different busy. Sometimes we need “fillers” or a last minute playdate. It is a balancing act and can get expensive. Thankfully there are cheap things we can do too like take the kids bowling free with the Kids Bowl Free program. I like to do a few of these with friends, because adults can socialize while the kids are safe and in air condition. You will need to rent shoes, but I will show you have to save for that too.
At select bowling locations, your child can get two FREE bowling games per kid every day in the summer (starting March 1st through September 30). You will need to register each child on their website, and then you can download the free coupons as you need them. Take them to the bowling center, rent shoes, and have fun. Sorry, adults, you will have to pay if you want to play too, however, there is a great package online if you register the whole family. This is a nationwide program and the bowling centers need to register if they want to participate. For more information or to register, please visit their website at www.kidsbowlfree.com. Age restrictions will apply. Child must be between 2 to 15 years old. Standard shoe rental rates will apply. An unlimited shoe rental pass is available at the bowling center. Walk-ins are usually acceptable, however, our local center sometimes email us limited lane availability. You can also call your center in advance to check.
Money Saving Tip!
Instead of the shoe rental, my friend said she found kids bowling shoes on clearance online. It came out cheaper than the unlimited shoe rental pass. You’ll have to do the math, but one year we got the unlimited shoe rental package and it saved us money. If you know you’re only going to go a couple of times, it might not be worth it to get the shoe pass. Take a picture or make a photo copy of the rental shoes pass and keep it in your car. Our location told us they do not keep it on file so we are responsible if we lose it. Have fun!
