Knott’s Berry Farm for the Cure

Spread the love

Now through March 5, Knott’s Berry Farm and Susan G. Komen Orange County are working together for the fourth year to raise money for breast cancer awareness, services and research. You can help make a difference by purchasing your 2017 Season Pass or special “Pink Tickets”. A portion of the proceeds from every Season Pass or “Pink Ticket” purchased online will benefit Susan G. Komen Foundation Orange County.

75% of the funds raised for Susan G. Komen are used to provide local services throughout Orange County:

  • Breast cancer detection and treatment education
  • Information and support for breast cancer survivors and families
  • Funding for free mammograms for uninsured and underserved women

25% of the funds raised for Susan G. Komen support national research to discover the cure for breast cancer.

Early Detection Saves Lives

Finding breast cancer early, when it’s easiest to treat, can save lives. Research estimates that regular screenings with mammography have resulted in 30% fewer deaths from breast cancer. However, mammography is not perfect. It can sometimes miss tumors or identify tumors that are not cancerous, particularly in women with dense breasts or who are at high risk for developing breast cancer. Komen is committed to finding better, more sensitive methods for detecting and identifying breast cancer earlier.

Free Screenings

Returning this year, Knott’s Berry Farm and Susan G. Komen Orange County will provide complimentary life-saving breast exams and mammograms to underserved and underinsured women and men via the Knott’s sponsored Alinea mobile mammography coach on Wednesday, February 22, 2017. The mammography coach will be stationed at the Knott’s Berry Farm Hotel from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. To qualify for FREE Breast Health Screening Services you must:

  • be 40 years old or older,
  • have low income,
  • have no or limited insurance,
  • not receive these services through Medi-Cal or another government-sponsored program,
  • live in California, and
  • have not had a mammogram in the past 12 months.

About the Cause: Komen founder Nancy G. Brinker made a promise to her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, Brinker’s promise fueled the launch of Susan G. Komen®, a global movement that has grown into the world’s largest nonprofit source of funding for the fight against breast cancer. In an effort to spread awareness, Knott’s Berry Farm and Komen Orange County invite guests to share their “for the cure” promises during the charitable promotion.
