Queen Mary CHILL Ice Kingdom Tips 2014

Spread the love

There are a few things we want to experience every year during the holidays in SoCal and The Queen Mary’s CHILL is definitely on that list! It’s hard not to feel the Christmas spirit while we’re freezing at North Pole temperatures in the ICE KINGDOM, ice tubing at Glacier Glide, ice skating in front of the Queen Mary, listening to festive holiday carolers, strolling down Blizzard Boulevard, a visit to Claus Cabin and a giant Gingerbread House and more! This year the tickets include activities like ice skating, ice tubing, and access to the Queen Mary.

Ice Skating

Here’s my first tip: As soon as you get there, get a timed ticket for Ice Skating! Since everyone will have access to ice skating this year, don’t get there to find out there are no openings at the time you prefer. Each session is 60 minutes. They’ll give you vouchers that look like this…

Know before you go:

  • Arrive 15 minutes before your session starts.
  • If you need lockers, they’re $3 for one time use.
  • If you need a ski buddy (like the penguin or panda), they rent for $5, and are first come, first serve so don’t hesitate if you think you will need one.
Pressed for Time? Get an “E.L.F. Pass”!
With the ELF Pass, you’ll get front of the line access to Ice Kingdom, Glacier Glide, and unlimited rides on the Swingin’ Sleigh Ride! A limited supply of ELF Passes are available for purchase each day. They’re available for $15.

The Swingin’ Sleigh Ride

You might recognize these swings from Dark Harbor. It’s from Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch! Tickets are $5. ELF Pass holders get unlimited rides for free.

Meet Ginny at The Gingerbread House!

It’s a great photo opp so make sure to stop by.

Rides

If you’re looking for rides to burn off some energy, try riding the “Bucking Reindeer” ($5) or let the kids bounce away at one of two bounce houses: “Queen Mary Bounce House” or “Candy Lane Bounce House” (free with admission).

Glacier Glide

I love that we get unlimited ice tubing this year so take advantage when you see short lines. TIP: ELF Passholders get access to the Express Lanes (located at the bottom right). Ask someone if you don’t know where it is.

Ice Kingdom

This year’s ticket includes unlimited trips to the Ice Kingdom and features a California holiday theme with a Surfing Santa. Other special features include The Nutcracker, castles, penguin village, and four ice slides off of a 30’ high replica of The Queen Mary! We love the ice slides!

TIP: Bring beanies, scarves, and gloves! It is kept at a frozen temperature of 9 degrees. Parkas are available for free.

Live Entertainment

This year, we can all enjoy magic shows, performances by Drummer Boyz and Soldier Boyz, Ice Rink DJ’s, The Satin Dollz, The Bling Divas, caroling along the Promenade of Trees, and Ice Skating Performances! Check their schedule online for performance dates and times.

Candy Lane

Take a break and catch a fun and festive performance at Candy Lane Stage. Our kids just loved running through Candy Lane.
