The older my kids get, the more questions they ask! Every year they start to understand a little more that the meaning of Christmas is not just Santa delivering presents, but they still believe. We were pleased to learn SeaWorld San Diego brought back, “O Wondrous Night“. The live musical performance is the story of the birth of Jesus told through the eyes of the animals. The thirty minute show is narrated by storytelling puppet animals who all claim they are responsible for the birth of Jesus. It features more than 30 carols, beautiful storytelling puppets and live majestic animals, including camels, a donkey, llamas, sheep and doves.
This show first premiered at SeaWorld Orlando in 2011. The songs are soulfully sung in gospel music fashion, and they keep the humor light and entertaining. I think the length of the show is perfect to keep the whole family entertained. Now when I ask the children if they remember what the story was about, they say it was a story about how Jesus was born, and that is exactly what I wanted to hear.
“O Wondrous Night” performs nightly at the marine park’s Nautilus Amphitheater during SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration, Nov. 17 – Jan. 7, 2019. Reserved seating is available online. For more information, please visit their website at seaworld.com/san-diego.
