Segerstrom Center: LUGOLA’s AWESOME Broadway LEGO Displays

Spread the love

Now at Segerstrom Center for the Arts through August! If you come to performances at Segerstrom Hall, you’ll be able to check out the AWESOME Broadway-inspired LEGO art created by members of LUGOLA (LEGO Users Group of Los Angeles). The team of designers was led by Paul Lee of Placentia (Pippin), with a team comprised of John Cooper of San Diego (Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas! the Musical), Mariann Asanuma of Escondido (Kinky Boots), James Banks of Long Beach (Dirty Dancing), Eric Tetangco of La Habra (Nice Work If You Can Get It), Peter Aoun of Azusa (Guys and Dolls), Guy Himber of Sherman Oaks (Annie the Musical) and Ray Silva of Lake Forest (The Phantom of the Opera).

“Hundreds of pieces were used in each work to create the detailed representations. In addition to their design ingenuity, the artists drew from their knowledge of the individual shows in order to instill a sense of personality and communication into each tableau. To the Center’s knowledge, this is the first time LEGOs have been used by any performing arts center to illustrate the fun of Broadway and the world of the great American musical. Other LEGO exhibits have been seen at BrickCon in Seattle, Designer Con in Pasadena, An Unexpected Art Show in Los Angeles, Star Wars Weekend at LEGOLAND in Carlsbad and various LEGO stores.”
