Discovery Cube’s WINTER WONDERFEST Ticket Giveaway!

Spread the love

You don’t have to drive outside of Orange County (or Los Angeles) to see snow this year, because winter is coming to us! Discovery Cube is hosting their annual WINTER WONDERFEST at both locations – Orange County AND Los Angeles! Beginning December 16-17 for opening weekend and open daily from December 22, 2017 through January 7, 2018, families can learn the Science of Snow with hands-on interactive exhibits featuring real snow by sledding down ice ramps, inner tubing, building snowmen or making snow angels, learning insulation and how animal adapts to the cold, and more!

Activities

Their holiday exhibit will include sliding down a 75-foot long ramp on inner tubes, a snow play area and real snow sledding. The children will be provided with tools to play with the snow and they can build snow castles, snowmen, snow angels, etc. Other “snow meets science” learning stations include Animal Adaptations to the Cold, Three States of Water and Cloud in a Bottle.

Discovery Cube Winter Wonderfest Snow Play

Science of Gingerbread

When are you are done playing in the snow, head inside and visit the Science of Gingerbread! Your ticket to the event includes admission to all the other exhibits indoor as well. Build and race your own candy car in the annual Gingerbread Derby! How fast can your car go? Hint: Strategically place your candy weights where you think it will help your car go the fastest. Each child will be given a bag of car parts with bonus candy pieces, and they will have the opportunity to select their car wheel candy. Some are faster than others but the children tend to pick their favorite candy, and they won’t know until they race them if makes their car go fast or not. Note: They usually limit the materials one per child so you won’t be able to test multiple cars. My kids love this activity!

We were there for Winter Wonderfest’s last year and had a blast! There are several different ramps for every level and every age group to enjoy. You’ll have to carry your own tube up the stairs, and sliding down will have your kids wanting to do it over and over again, but you’ll also want to try snow sledding too! Have smaller kids? Last year they had a Cube Jr Zone area where they have their own set of construction toys, tables and chairs. Last year my kids thought Snow Sledding was faster than the inner tubes. There’s also a super mini-one next to this one for even the littlest kids. In Snow Play, grab mini-cake pans and wooden spoons to scoop real snow. Notice the difference when you transfer the heat from your hands to the conductors. Snow is not just for kids! When will you get to play with snow in OC again? Bring gloves! I would recommend bringing gloves, a coat because it is outdoors and was cold when we went in the morning, change of clothes in case it gets soaked, and closed toed shoes. Have a blast! ~Mary
