Making Time to Relax at Burke Williams

Some of you know that I recently made the transition to go back to work Full-time. It was scary at first (finding and trusting childcare while adjusting, etc), but now it doesn’t even feel like I ever stopped working. As working parents, when do you ever get a break? You’ll have to teach me how you do it, because I burn out midweek, and I find it nearly impossible to make time for myself. Those who know me know that I love spending Girl-Time at Day Spas. The main difference is Day Spas have a full facility with a lounge (or lounges), showers, Jacuzzi, steam room, and vanity room, etc. whereas the other spas only have treatment rooms. I couldn’t resist Burke Williams invitation to come out and experience their amenities. I finally just did it and made an appointment after work. Have you been to Burke Williams before? If you haven’t, I’ll walk you through it. There are several locations throughout Southern California. (I think I’ve been to four of them between LA and OC). I think Orange is the largest one – aren’t we lucky?

Come early to enjoy the amenities

Here’s my first tip. Come at least an hour early before your services to enjoy the amenities. Once you check in, they hand you a locker key. There you will find a bathrobe and slippers. And if you’ve never been before, ask them for a tour of the facility. It will help you decide what to do first. At Orange, we walked through their main lounge to get to the spa. This is one of two lounges where you can enjoy lunch by the fireplace or sip on fruit-infused water or hot tea while you wait for your services in our robes. Note: This is a co-ed room so men share the space too.

HUNGRY? Order a Lunch!

I was a little worried that I would be starving in the middle of my appointment since I came straight from work but was relieved to learn Burke Williams’ Orange location offered menu items from Cafe TuTu Tango. I ordered a brie chicken sandwich when I checked in, and by the time I changed into my robe, showered, and came back out, it was waiting for me by the fireplace in the lounge (about 15-30 minutes?) – It was so nice! By the way, the chicken sandwich was delicious. I had the second half the next day for lunch, and it was still good.

I’m ready to relax. I had a 50-minute Pure Relaxation Massage which I upgraded for Hot Stones (my favorite). Sarah-jean took extra good care of me. She applied the right amount of heat and pressure as well as adjusted when I needed her to. I was totally relaxed. I also had a 50-minute Spa-Style Facial with Laura. At first I thought maybe two hours would be too long and almost went with the mini-facial, but I’m so glad I upgraded to the full. The main difference is you get a paraffin hand dip and longer massages (more neck and head massages – Yes please). Have you seen my skin glow lately? It might be from the Vitamin C Peel I received. I really enjoyed my time with Laura too. Oh and I have to tell you my favorite room at Burke Williams… it’s the cool Mist Room. Thank you, Burke Williams! You really spoiled me that night. Can’t wait to come back and relax some more. Until next time…
