Zion National Park Tips

Written in collaboration with Kampgrounds of America aka KOA. Opinions are our own. We have made Father’s Day Week our annual camping trip for the last three years. We have found that it is a nice way to kick off the summer right when school ends, and the national parks are not yet overcrowded. We think it’s because everyone is saving up their vacation for 4th of July which is only a couple of weeks away. It’s always better with friends and family, but it requires more planning and doesn’t always work out because of scheduling conflicts. This year we visited Zion National Park in Utah, because it was highly … READ MORE

Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort

I am often surprised when locals tell me they have never been to Newport Dunes in Newport Beach. They’re the ones with the oversized inflatable obstacle course in the bay. They have a beach, a water park, and they offer water activities like kayaking, stand up paddleboards, pedal boats, and electric Duffy boats available for rent. During the summer, they usually host free movies on the beach. They also offer luxury camping, RV camping, and tent camping sites. Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort and Back Bay Bistro has a lineup of Labor Day weekend events beginning Friday, August 30 through Monday, September 2. Bring the whole family to enjoy the water … READ MORE

TRAVEL: San Juan Islands Washington

Written in collaboration with San Juan Islands, Washington. There are a few times a year when I like to feature a travel story. Memorable Spring Break trips are one of them. This year I wanted to to go somewhere on my bucket list, and decided on San Juan Islands. The islands are located off the coast of Washington State, and close to the Canadian border. I wanted to go there because I’ve never been to Seattle, and secondly because one of the islands is called “Orcas Islands.” Although it wasn’t high season to see Orcas, we went in hopes we would see them in transit. Fortunately, we were lucky enough … READ MORE

Harbor Breeze Cruises Whale Watching + Aquarium of the Pacific

Whale Watching in Southern California can be enjoyed year round. Depending on the migrating season, we can spot them in the waters off the shores of California, however, it is most exciting when we can get as close as possible in their natural environment (by boat). In Orange County, we have several ports to choose from. What makes the one out of Long Beach uniquely different is that they have a partnership with the Aquarium of the Pacific. Not only are the crewmen at Harbor Breeze Cruises (HBC) experienced and professional, they have ocean experts from the Aquarium to help identify the sea animals. Plus their cruise boats are fairly new … READ MORE
