Tanaka Farms – Helpful Tips for Melon Tours

Tanaka Farms in Irvine California hosts Melon Tours in the summer (July-August) where they take us on guided wagon rides around their farm, sample fresh summer vegetables along the way, and then we stop to taste our fill of several freshly cut melons including a yellow watermelon. Some of the farm fresh produce that we got to try today were green beans, carrots, grape tomatoes, white corn, cucumbers, Saticoy Melons (looks like a cantaloupe), seedless and seeded watermelons. It was fun to see the children attempt to try them all. The melon selections may vary upon the harvest season. For example, they sold out of the Yellow Watermelons (my favorite) early … READ MORE

Living Desert Zoo Botanical Garden Palm Springs

Ever wonder what animals and plants can survive in the desert’s harsh conditions? If you’re passing through Palm Springs, you’ll want to stop to check out THE LIVING DESERT Zoo & Botanical Garden. We were pleasantly surprised how nice the Zoo is there. The Zoo is broken up into two regions – Northern America and Africa. We only had time to visit one of the region so we picked Africa. We saw animals like zebras, cheetahs, gazelles, warthogs, camels, hyenas, leopards, and ostriches. The Giraffe Habitat is breathtaking. Certain times of the day you can help feed a herd of giraffe, ride a camel (returns in the fall), chat with … READ MORE

GoRving Thousand Trails – Yosemite Lakes RV Resort

Post written by me for Go RVing and Thousand Trails. All opinions are my own. Right now my kids are enjoying their camping adventures. They think it’s really fun to stay in a tent, go fishing, play in the streams with other children, make bonfire s’mores and walk around with flashlights. We’ve only tried tent camping, and I have heard once you go RV’ing, you might not go back to tent camping. This year for Father’s Day Week we visited Yosemite National Park and had an opportunity to stay in one of the park model RVs at YOSEMITE LAKES RV RESORT which is a Thousand Trails destination. (Park model RVs … READ MORE

Knott’s Soak City Water Park Orange County

Knott’s Soak City Waterpark is Orange County’s largest outdoor water park with over 15-acres of fun. Last year they added two new water slide towers, Shore Break and The Wedge. They also added 2 acres during their expansion and renovation project. It added new shaded seating areas, spacious cabanas, and added a new remodeled Longboard’s Grill. Shore Break towers over seven stories high and offers six different water slide experiences. Four of the slides include Aqua Launch chambers which drops the floor from underneath then sends the riders on a vertical free fall through a series of loops and curves. Yikes! The new family raft ride, The Wedge, takes up … READ MORE
