Jumpstart Your Fitness With a Visit to Oaks at Ojai Wellness Destination!

The Oaks at Ojai is one of a kind. It is an all-inclusive wellness weight-loss resort in the City of Ojai in California. My sister and I went for my birthday this year and loved it so much, we want to go every year (maybe for next year’s girls’ trip?) The resort provides all the meals, snacks, beverages, as well as fitness classes, enrichment program, parking and wifi included in a one night stay. For three days, we didn’t wear makeup nor fixed our hair, we went to bed early every night, woke up early each morning to hike or do a brisk walk around town. I especially enjoyed the morning stretch class. We followed the itinerary as closely as we could without skipping meals and snack breaks, took as many classes as possible, and if we were tired, we either took a nap or laid out by the pool. We even had time to stop by the farmers market which was only a block away and scheduled a spa service. It was low key and it was great. Everything on the itinerary was optional, and we are fully in control what we want to do at our own pace.

Guide to LEGOLAND Water Park + Giveaway!

LEGOLAND® Water Park is located inside the park (additional ticket required) at the north end of LEGOLAND® California adjacent to Fun Town (see map below). This part of the park has been opened since May 2010. It includes Legends of Chima Water Park, Pirate’s Reef, Soak-n-Sail, and new this summer – Surfer’s Cove! Surfer’s Cove features six water slides which extends 100-feet where guests can race each other for the fastest time on Riptide Racers water slides. Look for a LEGO winner’s trophy for a great photo opportunity! There’s a new spray ground called Wipeout Lagoon where multiple water jets splash on and off creating a wave effect. New eatery offers Beach Street Tacos and new seating area. Find new LEGO models throughout in beach themes – LEGO surfers, LEGO seagulls, LEGO crabs, a LEGO lifeguard, and a surfing dog model sits on top of a wave at the peak of Riptide Racers.

UPDATE: We were there June 30th, and Surfers’ Cove was nearly finished.

Descanso Beach Ocean Sports Snorkeling on Catalina Island

Something I have always wanted to try on Catalina Island was snorkeling. It was early spring, and of course, the ocean water was freezing, but amazingly with wetsuits on, it becomes bearable and absolutely fun! I am talking about going 9 AM in the morning with children and not being bothered by the temperature of the water. We were only planning to be out there about an hour but that was not long enough. We didn’t have to go very far to see an abundance of sea creatures right off the coastal waters of Avalon, California! My husband and I both agree that this is our new favorite activity on the island. DESCANSO BEACH OCEAN SPORTS had everything we needed – mask & snorkel, fins, wetsuits for both adults and children, boogie boards, and water shoes (highly recommended because of the rocky bottoms unless you are using fins).

Catalina Island’s Golf Gardens Miniature Golf

One of the activities that we absolutely love to do together as a family on Catalina Island is a round of miniature golf at GOLF GARDENS. It’s inexpensive and fun for all ages. You can easily spend a good hour to two hours here. Four years ago, we introduced the children to mini-golf right here, and ever since then, it has become a tradition on the island! When my children were much younger, I appreciated that the area was enclosed and fenced off so if they ran ahead of me, I could still see that they were safe. They didn’t necessarily follow the rules, sometimes they held the clubs upside … READ MORE >>
