We go to Catalina Island a lot because it is absolutely beautiful out there, and it is a short boat ride off Southern California Coast. We have stayed over as a couple before children, a day trip with a large group for July 4th, and now as a family with kids. A great option for overnight stays with large groups and families is renting a house with a full kitchen. You can save money cooking your own meals, and it feels like home away from home. CATALINA ISLAND VACATION RENTALS (CIVR) offered to host our family while we were on Spring Break one year, and our home rental for two nights was a modernly decorated two bedroom condo centrally located to all the attractions in Avalon Harbor. As you may already know, most everything on Santa Catalina Island is within walking distance. We were steps from the water as well as from the Vons Grocery store. We walked about four blocks with our luggage to our condo which was also a block from Crescent Ave. (Note: CIVR have both houses and condos all between one and three blocks of the downtown area). We walked everywhere this weekend and all of our activities were conveniently about two or three blocks from where we stayed. Check out this property where we stayed at on Beacon St. from CIVR.
Get the VIP treatment! When you upgrade your Catalina Express tickets for $15 each person, you will receive Commodore Lounge benefits such as beverage tickets, priority boarding, snacks, and reclining seats! You will feel the VIP treatment right away! For example, when you start to line up for boarding, you will notice a special waiting area for “Commodore Lounge” ticket holders. The lines are much shorter, and you board first! Comfy leather seats that recline, drink service, and snacks – This is the way to travel!
Most recently the KNOTT’S HOTEL in Buena Park renovated. The hotel is literally down the street from us so why would we stay here? Because… Two parks in two days! When you’re busy having fun all day, the last thing you want to do is get in a car and sit in traffic. Everyone is super tired and a long car ride can be a drag especially for the driver. Sometimes, it’s nice to just go up to a hotel room and relax before going back out a second day. The rooms were comfy with modern furniture, and because of the heat wave last week, we looked forward to lounging poolside. The … READ MORE
When we were staying at the Bahia Hotel in Mission Bay, Belmont Park was seen across the way. Sure we could walk over, but have you seen my sister-in-law’s itinerary?? We were on a “tight” and I mean “tight” schedule. After all, they were touring sunny SoCal in one week remember? With a couple of hours to play before dinner, we drove ourselves over. =) Belmont Park/(c) Let’s Play OC! Hot Tip: As you soon as you decide it’s on your “To-Do”, sign up to receive coupons HERE. The one that we were especially looking for was RUSH Laser Tag and shortly after I registered my email, I scored this: … READ MORE
My boys are HUGE and I mean HUGE Transformers fans! We started collecting these KRE-O Transformer’s set this year, and I think we’re almost done. (KRE-O’s are HasbroToys version of construction sets). The boys enjoy building them together with their Dad, and they spend hours and hours playing with them (under supervision). They don’t transform, but they can build them in two different ways. Anyhow, with the new Transformers: The Ride-3D this year at Universal Studios, they were in for a real treat! Transformers: The Ride-3D Right next to the Transformers: The Ride-3D, we spot Optimus Prime and took this shot with him. AWESOME. Then Bumblebee walked past us so … READ MORE
We stumbled upon Porsche Timeline Show in Lake Arrowhead a few years ago. We wanted to get out of the city so we took a day trip to the mountains. I think we were looking for Big Bear and came across this little town called Lake Arrowhead (about 30 minutes from each other). It was foggy that day but we saw that we had just missed an annual Porsche car show. Ever since then, I google it every year to try to make it every year. My boys love it! We’ve gone several times and as the boys get older, it’s a little different every time. If you’ve met my husband, you … READ MORE
