Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort

I am often surprised when locals tell me they have never been to Newport Dunes in Newport Beach. They’re the ones with the oversized inflatable obstacle course in the bay. They have a beach, a water park, and they offer water activities like kayaking, stand up paddleboards, pedal boats, and electric Duffy boats available for rent. During the summer, they usually host free movies on the beach. They also offer luxury camping, RV camping, and tent camping sites. Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort and Back Bay Bistro has a lineup of Labor Day weekend events beginning Friday, August 30 through Monday, September 2. Bring the whole family to enjoy the water park, live music and entertainment, a Luau feast and more!

Newport Beach Luau

On Saturday, August 31, experience the inaugural Newport Beach Luau from 6–9:30 p.m. Newport Dunes’ first-time event honors authentic Luau food and entertainment with Kane and Hula dancers, fire throwing and a traditional pig ceremony. Learn the history of the luau told through music, dance, drums, and chants while enjoying a delicious Hawaiian-style dinner under the stars with grilled chicken teriyaki, fresh pineapple, Kalua pulled pork and more. Sip cocktails from the Tiki Bar and savor the sunset along the Back Bay while basking in the ultimate luau experience. NewportDunes.com/event/newport-beach-luau

Back Bay Bistro

Steps away at Newport Dunes’ waterfront restaurant, Back Bay Bistro, has live performance by the nostalgia-fueled tribute band, Wayward Sons, on Saturday, August 31 from 8–10 p.m. Featuring the greatest hits of the ‘80s by Journey, Queen, Styx, Bon Jovi and others, the Los Angeles-based tribute band will have you dancing and singing along. Dinner during the show is available with special table seating. Experience Back Bay Bistro’s award-winning brunch, served Saturdays and Sundays, from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. Visit BackBayBistroNB.com to make a reservation for lunch, dinner or weekend brunch and to view the full Bands at the Bistro events calendar.  (Website Link: NewportDunes.com/event/wayward-sons). On Sunday, September 1, dust off your cowboy boots for one of Newport Dunes’ most highly anticipated events of the summer, Boots on the Beach.
