Celebrate Easter w/ Free Range @happyeggcoUSA | Giveaway ends 3/31

I received an egg dyeing kit in the mail the other day courtesy of the happy egg co. I’ve never dyed brown eggs before, and it was actually a really fun project for my kids and I (plus we got to try free-range eggs.)

As I was setting up, the hard part was keeping their hands off so I can take nice pictures to share. =)

Time to Dye Eggs!

I just used the color dye provided in the packaging, but you can try natural food coloring*. For more vibrant colors (and I’m taking this straight off the packaging), add 3 tablespoons of distilled vinegar.

*happy egg co.’s tip: colorful foods like carrots, blueberries and coffee can be boiled in water to make a natural dye. Because brown eggs have thicker shells, it may take longer to dye.

White Eggs vs. Brown Eggs

Most think white eggs are the best for dyeing, but you’ll be surprised how vibrant the colors are from brown eggs. I dyed both in the same pink dye to show a comparison. (The white is on the LEFT).

I think it turned out pretty good. What do you think?
