This month, we’re all gearing up for Back-To-School, and I’m working on a game plan so I don’t get anxieties this year. For example, I will try to avoid crowds by shopping early in the season and in the mornings. I’m already finding some good deals at the mall. This year I am “Pairing Up” with JCPenney! I like collaborating with JCPenney, because not only do I find affordable pieces and they have a great selection of licensed tees that we love, every year they roll out a program to help children in need. This year for two weeks (8/1 through 8/15), for every pack of socks or underwear sold, JCPenney will “Pair Up” and donate a pack to the Y to give to kids in need up to 750,000. What a great cause!
If you are always looking for ways to save money like I do, ALBERTSONS just rolled out a new savings tool in Southern California on their mobile app on July 19th – “just for U”! I put it to the test this weekend, and I must say – it sure brought me back to my coupon clipping days only this is much easier. I didn’t need scissors, I didn’t have to buy the Sunday paper for coupons, nor did I need to spend time sorting them all. It is built right into the app, and you save a little bit more on top of the sale prices. I can browse and load the digital offers right before I shop or I can do it during my shopping trip.
In the newest production from Feld Entertainment, Avengers assemble in MARVEL UNIVERSE LIVE! AGE OF HEROES to defeat evil. Spiderman, the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Doctor Strange join forces in an all out battle to recover the Wand of Watoomb. The show is action-packed, and there’s something for fans of all ages to enjoy. At times it was hard to focus because they utilized the whole stage and all the heroes were on at the same time. Some of my favorite parts of the show was the use of immersive video projection and cutting-edge special effects which transitioned the scenes and transported the audience across the universe from China to New York City and beyond. No violence here as it is a family show, but it didn’t lack punches or crazy stunts. There is a lot going on and the hardest part was choosing which hero you want to see more of. If you go, be sure to put on your Marvel gear and represent! Marvel Universe LIVE! Age of Heroes will travel throughout North America on a multiyear tour, including stops in Denver, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Indianapolis, Atlanta, Dallas, Miami and New York. After North America, the show will embark on an international tour starting in 2019. For a complete list of North American tour dates, locations and to purchase tickets, please visit www.MarvelUniverseLIVE.com.
Planning weekly meals for the family is often challenging for me, because I only want to make one grocery run for the week, and I can’t spend too much time putting it together so if I am missing an ingredient for the recipe, I have to find a new one. Foster Farms has new product called BAKED that are in the frozen section at Albertson’s or Vons. They come in 1.5 lb bags and you can always have them as a back up or if you need to make quick meals. I was up for the challenge and ended up making three simple meals that are so easy. If I can do it, anyone can do it.
We stopped in recently to try out some of Stonefire Grill’s latest offerings. It was casual family-friendly dining but they also have catering and takeout so you”ll want to call ahead if you want to save time. They have options that will satisfy the whole family like pizza, ribs, tri tip, sandwiches, pasta, soups and salads. I like that you can buy a whole chicken or family sized portions as well as get it in petite sizes if you are not super hungry. Our favorites are the lemon chicken or salmon, bbq tri tip, baked rigatoni with meat sauce (my kids love it). Did you know that there is a STIMULUS PACKAGE on their secret menu? It is a pretty good value. For Dine In or Takeout, you can select half tri tip or whole chicken, a small salad, 12″ two topping pizza, and 8 yummy breadsticks for $29.99. It was a lot of food for a small family of 4.
