Connected Independence – Smart Homes for Seniors

Advertisment. All opinions are my own. Now that we are homeowners, my husband has been obsessed with converting our home into a Smart Home. We have several of the devices that we can control remotely like light switches, thermostat, garage, and we got an Echo Show for Christmas, but it takes time to do it all. Last week, I attended “Connected Independence”, a Smart Home designed for seniors. It had me thinking about my own aging parents, and I also pictured myself using this technology when I’m not there to help them. “According to AARP, nearly 90% of adults ages 65+ prefer staying in their homes and aging in their … READ MORE >>

Flower Fields Carlsbad Ranch Attractions

I received tickets in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.  One of my favorite things to do in the Spring is visit The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch. Sensory-Friendly Movie Experiences

April is National Autism-Awareness Month. I will be sharing resources throughout next month (primarily on my facebook page) that were helpful to us when we started out on our journey. One of the things we enjoy together as a family is watching the latest titles in the theater. It wasn’t so easy when the children were young and couldn’t sit through the film without disturbing others. It was discouraging and not fun so we stopped going for a while. When we learned of sensory-friendly films at AMC Theatres, I felt like it described us and gave us an opportunity to go back to the theater again without feeling judged. It … READ MORE >>
