Catalina Island Vacation Rentals – CIVR

We go to Catalina Island a lot because it is absolutely beautiful out there, and it is a short boat ride off Southern California Coast. We have stayed over as a couple before children, a day trip with a large group for July 4th, and now as a family with kids. A great option for overnight stays with large groups and families is renting a house with a full kitchen. You can save money cooking your own meals, and it feels like home away from home. CATALINA ISLAND VACATION RENTALS (CIVR) offered to host our family while we were on Spring Break one year, and our home rental for two nights was a modernly decorated two bedroom condo centrally located to all the attractions in Avalon Harbor. As you may already know, most everything on Santa Catalina Island is within walking distance. We were steps from the water as well as from the Vons Grocery store. We walked about four blocks with our luggage to our condo which was also a block from Crescent Ave. (Note: CIVR have both houses and condos all between one and three blocks of the downtown area). We walked everywhere this weekend and all of our activities were conveniently about two or three blocks from where we stayed. Check out this property where we stayed at on Beacon St. from CIVR.

Kayaking with Kids on Santa Catalina Island with Descanso Beach Ocean Sports #AvalonCA

One early morning in September, our family was invited to experience then share about a guided kayaking expedition on Santa Catalina Island in Avalon, California with Descanso Beach Ocean Sports. It was the perfect morning island vacation adventure as the waters were calm and clear. It was a short 15 minute walk from our hotel as we walked past the Catalina Casino to get to Descanso Beach. As they instructed beforehand, we dressed in our wet suits because we will be sitting in water, but they wanted us to be comfortable, so they also offered us water shoes, life jackets, and water pants. (Our kayaking tour was for 1.5 to … READ MORE >>

Hummer Tour with Catalina Island East End Adventure | @VisitCatalina #Travel

This is a post written by me for Catalina Island East End Adventure. All opinions are our own. One of the memorable adventures we had on Santa Catalina Island recently was a 2-hour Hummer Tour with Catalina Island East End Adventure. As it took us on a restricted road to the other side of the island, we heard stories about the Wrigley family, interesting facts about the Catalina Island Conservancy, the plants, the healthy buffalo population on the island, and enjoyed breath-taking views we wouldn’t have seen unless we hiked it. Did you know that the Conservancy protects 88% of Catalina Island? There is more than 62 miles of unspoiled … READ MORE >>

TRAVEL: Buffalo Milk and Buffalo Burger at Luau Larry’s on Catalina Island

This is a post written by me for Luau Larry’s. All opinions are my own. If you’re wondering what Luau Larry’s have to offer on Avalon, California, we tried a few items that we enjoyed. For example, Turtle Wings are chicken wings with a teriyaki glaze. They’re great for sharing! Did you know that Catalina Island has a healthy Buffalo population that is controlled by the Conservancy? Well if you feel adventurous, you can order a Buffalo Burger on the menu which is 1/3 lb Buffalo meat. Honestly, we couldn’t really tell it apart from regular beef. Another burger we tried was the Hamburger Kona which comes with cheese and … READ MORE >>

CATALINA ISLAND: Inside the Pavilion Hotel – Avalon, CA | @VisitCatalina #Travel #CatalinaIsland

This is a post written by me for Pavilion Hotel. All opinions are our own. Welcome to our Santa Catalina Island Adventure Series. One of the things that we worry about the most when we’re on the island is our luggage. What do we do with our luggage when check-in is not until 3 pm? Do we roll it around with us for the rest of the day? Of course, we could always check it at our hotel, but what if it’s on the other side of the bay? Everywhere in Avalon, California is within walking distance, but when you have kids, traveling light is not an option and you … READ MORE >>
